ElectroCelt is Geoffrey Keogh from Dublin, Ireland.
His
debut album "Digital Fields" is causing a lot of buzz in the
UK. ElectroCelt's music is a unique combination of dreamy atmospheric textures with pure analogue electronic rhythms and sequences, combining the feel of modern electronica and ambient
music with vocals and acoustic guitar. Melody is essential, but most importantly is the emotional
connection with the listener.
Music always stirred up very deep images for Geoff all through his youth. After playing some piano,
keyboard, and trying out new software, his interests in electronic music grew even more.
Geoff was influenced by electronic musical artists like Jerome Froese, Klaus Schulze,
Johannes Schmoelling, Pink Floyd, Ron Boots, Tangerine Dream,
Kraftwerk, and other experimental artists.
Geoff went on to do electronic music production in the Dublin Temple bar sound
center. This introduced him to Reason cubase sound forge programs, which opened up a lot more avenues, along with the help of friends with similar interests ( Conrad Gibbons, Chris Newman, Rosie Gibbons, David Fox, Tara
Woolridge, and her brother Fon Woolridge). With Tara and Fon, Geoff started to take on
learning the guitar, and trying to merge electronics and acoustics, working and composing at his home studio.

"Music is a way of life, a river to
the soul and spirit; expression of
the mind. Most of all a part of me."

The story goes that Geoff was driving his Taxi around the streets of Dublin, and picked up Sean
MacLeod of Sonic Eye Studio. Geoff was playing the song "Digital Fields" on the cd player. Sean asked whether it was some new artist's music playing. Geoff explained that it was music he had composed at home. Sean asked Geoff if he had done anything with his
music? Geoff replied, "No, should I?". Sean suggested that he
should because Geoff's music was "different from the usual stuff you hear."
Geoff's chance meeting with Sean led him to finishing out Level 1 and 2 City & Guilds courses in Sound Engineering and Music Technology at Sonic Eye Media College. One of the course projects was to record a band to show that he could use the equipment. As Geoff had no band to record, with the help of
his friends Tara and Fon Woolridge, they recorded the song "Silver
Lining". After the passing of days and a bit of mixing, the lads Sean and Robert asked if
he had more of this "stuff" around. That set Geoff on a month long composing and recording marathon. It was a real
labor of love that resulted in Geoff's first album "Digital Fields". |

Fon
Woolridge played acoustic, electric, and bass guitar for the Digital
Fields album.
Fon is technically
a master of guitar and an overall great musician. He has released a solo project earlier this year called
"Ode to Classical", which basically is the great classics played on
electric guitar. Fon also teaches guitar. |
